Here’s why the 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is the supercar to buy this year

The 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is not just an exquisite supercar. It’s the benchmark upon which future Huracan models will be based. The Huracan Evo is not merely a steroid-infused Huracan Performante. It comes with a bewildering array of new-age tech that helps average drivers feel like professional race-honed super humans.

I’m not making this up. Lamborghini went so far as saying the new Huracan Evo is capable of predicting the driver’s inputs, which sounds dangerously close to actual witchcraft. With that being said, here are the top reasons why the 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is the supercar to buy at this moment.

The Lamborghini Huracan Evo is faster than the Huracan Performante

I’m not saying the Huracan Performante is a slow car, and the Huracan EVO is equipped with the same engine as the bonkers Performante. This means 640-horsepower, 600 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm, and 0 to 60 mph in 2.9-seconds. The top speed is 202 mph (325 kph).

But the Huracan Evo is a full 3.0-seconds faster than the Huracan coupe at the 5-mile Nardo Ring, and it also eclipses the Performante at that. This is interesting given the Huracan Evo is 88 pounds heavier than the Performante.

The Huracan Evo comes with a clever vehicle dynamics control system

It’s called the Lamborghini Dynamic Vehicle Integration, or LDVI for short. This system is governed by a single central CPU that relentlessly monitors the traction control, magnetic dampers, the LPI (Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale) inertial platform, all-wheel steering, and torque-vectoring systems in the standard all-wheel drivetrain.

I know that’s a lot to swallow at the moment, but LDVI is responsible for the predictive abilities of the Huracan Evo. It’s basically a traditional supercar run by state-of-the-art computers, which is only fitting for today’s millennial generation of supercar buyers.

We need to dive deeper into the LPI inertia platform. The Huracan Evo comes with an updated set of gyroscopic sensors and accelerometers to monitor longitudinal, vertical, and lateral acceleration. It also keeps a close eye on roll, pitch, yaw, brake inputs, throttle position, and steering wheel angle to virtually ‘predict’ your next move.

The computer is making billions of computations as you drive the Huracan Evo. The result of all this is a hyper supercar that’s no harder to drive than a Toyota Corolla, even when you’re entering a corner at inappropriate speeds. Steer the car, dab the throttle, laugh like a lunatic, and let the algorithms do the rest.

It’s a multifaceted supercar

I’m not referring to the actual face but rather on the behavior of the car. You can do this by choosing between three driving modes: Strada, Sport, and Corsa. Strada mode is for street driving. Engaging this mode silences the exhaust and makes the Huracan Evo behave like a normal car. Sport mode is the preferred choice if you want to explore the potential of your Huracan Evo. What’s interesting is the inclusion of a special ‘Drift’ feature in Sport mode, which allows you to exit the corner like your pants are on fire.

Of course, Corsa mode is for the racetrack. In this setting, the Huracan Evo is in maximum attack mode. It further tightens the suspension and turns the engine/exhaust volume all the way to ten. You can switch between driving modes easily using the ANIMA switch in the steering wheel.

2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo

It’s gloriously aerodynamic even without an ugly rear spoiler

To be precise, the 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is seven times more aerodynamic than the outgoing Huracan coupe. It comes with a new front splitter with an integrated wing and air curtain, an optimized underbody design, a new rear diffuser, repositioned center-mounted titanium exhausts, and a subtle ducktail spoiler.

The Huracan Evo is digitally connected

And by this, I mean bowing to the whims of the Facebook/Twitter/Instagram generation. The 2019 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is equipped with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The interior is dominated by a brilliant 8.4-inch touchscreen display, which apparently is enough to make any young driver weep from joy. There is no heads-up display to brag about, but it does come with multi-finger gesture control. This means you can adjust the stereo volume by swiping your fingers up or down.

One of the first Lamborghini Huracan Evo models on display is at the newly redesigned Lamborghini Palmyra showroom in Route 73, NJ which formally opened last May 2. The event was graced by no less than Automobili Lamborghini America CEO Allesandro Farmeschi and Lamborghini Palmyra Dealer Principal Frank Kerbeck. The modern showroom features a unique 360-degree client experience and a dedicated Ad Personam customization room.
