Omega Constellation Globemaster Co‑Axial Master Chronometer Annual Calendar 2019

The Globemaster is the world’s first watch to get the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) certification (in 2014) making it the worlds’ first Master Chronometer. With time, this collection has grown to showcase how Omega has managed to maintain the design DNA while improving on technology and other aspects. The 2019 Omega Constellation Globemaster Co‑Axial Master Chronometer Annual Calendar is a watch that looks lustrous in its black avatar.

Designed to fit in a 41 mm case in stainless steel, the watch features a fluted tungsten carbide bezel. Tungsten carbide is a hard metal, and is scratch resistant, thus it complements the overall purpose of the watch. Unlike the 18K gold hand that we typically see, the 2019 Globemaster Annual Calendar sports blued hands and dial accents and is filled with Super-LumiNova. This transition comes at a price and makes the watch $150 more dearer than the others.

On the glossy jet-black Pie Pan dial (first seen in the original Constellation watch in 1952) we find the month of the year on each of its facets, which is the very core of this watch design. The month of the year can be read via the matte finished 18K white gold, needle-shaped hand. The seconds are read via the central sweeping seconds hand (polished 18K gold, with two facets).

As this is the Annual Calendar watch, you will need to adjust the date only once a year, in February. Of course you will need to keep the watch fully wound as well. Although the day of the week is not indicated, the symmetrically positioned date display is found at the 6 o’clock position and it has an instantaneous jump feature at midnight.

The 18K white gold Constellation star and OMEGA logo is also found on the dial. The case back sports a stainless steel Central Observatory medallion, which is set in scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Under the dial is a automatic self-winding movement with Co-Axial escapement – the Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 8922.

The Constellation Globemaster Annual Calendar (Ref. 130.33.41.22.01.001) boasts of a 55-hour power reserve and is water resistant up to 100 meters. A 20 mm glossy black alligator leather strap completes the look and will retail for $8,450 from August 2019.
