2020 Bentley Flying Spur: the fastest and most luxurious sedan in the world

The year 2019 is all about breaking records. Just recently, Bentley took the wraps off the 2020 Flying Spur. After Mercedes unveiled the most powerful four-cylinder engine a couple of days ago, Bentley is now saying the all-new third-generation Flying Spur is the fastest and most luxurious sedan in the world.

Here are some of the things you can expect from the newest Bentley luxury car.

The Bentley Flying Spur is a sports sedan and luxury limousine

There’s no question the rear quarters have the best seats in the house. And while you wouldn’t look amiss being chauffeured in your Flying Spur, we wouldn’t be surprised if lucky owners do most of the driving sans a chauffeur.

The new Bentley Flying Spur is equipped with all-wheel-drive, dynamic ride suspension, and all-wheel steering. The latter is the first time ever in a Bentley motorcar, and that’s saying a lot. And while the new Flying Spur tips the scales at 5,372 pounds, it’ still capable of pushing way past the speed limit faster than a conventional sports car.

It comes with an oversized W12 engine

You weren’t expecting an underpowered Bentley, right? For the 2020 Flying Spur, Bentley utilized the same motor in the Continental GT. This means a 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbocharged mill with 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque.

The engine is bolted to an eight-speed-clutch transmission and clutch-based all-wheel-drive system. With this motor, the new Bentley Flying Spur can rush to 60 mph in 3.7-seconds.

The new Flying Spur is the fastest production sedan in the world

But it’s not only about lightning-quick acceleration in a virtual land yacht. The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur has a top speed of 207 mph. This makes it faster than Alpina B7 and the rightful heir to the throne of the fastest ever production sedan.

May this serve as a reminder the next time you’re hogging the fast lane in the German autobahn. If you see the new Flying Spur in your rearview mirror, it is best for you to give way.

It’s bigger and longer than the outgoing model

The new Bentley Flying Spur may have the styling cues as the old car, but it’s completely new from the ground up. The new model is longer in length and has a longer wheelbase as well. In fact, the new Flying Spur has a 5.1-inch longer wheelbase than the old Flying Spur. This translates to more legroom for rear passengers and a more comfortable ride as well.

The new Bentley Flying Spur is more comfortable than ever

The new Flying Spur is equipped with air suspension, but not the ordinary kind. The air springs can accommodate 60-percent more air volume. The continuous damping control ensures maximum comfort when cruising or a taut ride when driving at higher speeds. The three-mode air-suspension in the Flying Spur also comes with electronic active sway bars that stiffen the suspension feel without affecting overall comfort.

It has an illuminated and retractable Flying B emblem

The next closest thing to a Bentley is a Rolls-Royce. Both carmakers belong to the upper echelons of the automotive hierarchy. But in order to make the new Flying Spur more special, Bentley installed an illuminated and retractable Flying B logo at the edge of the hood.

The cabin is as plush as a hotel suite

Bentley gave us a glimpse into the new Flying Spur’s interior a couple of weeks ago. IT has the world’s first 3D textured leather upholstery, and it simply looks divine! You can choose from 15 colors of cowhide for the seats along with several veneer options including open-pore wood and piano black accents.

The 2020 Bentley Flying Spur also boasts the innovative and strangely luxurious 12.3-inch rotating center touchscreen. You also get a standard 10-speaker audio system or an optional 2,200-watt Naim sound system with 19 speakers and active bass transducers. Standard luxury equipment includes LED matrix headlights, 21-inch wheels, and interior mood lighting.

The all-new 2020 Bentley Flying Spur starts at $224,500 with deliveries expected to commence in early 2020.
