Aston Martin’s been teasing us with the AM-RB-003 for quite some time. However, the British carmaker has given the robotic sounding AM-RB-003 a proper name. From now on, it is called the Valhalla.

The Valhalla follows the trend of Aston Martin’s affinity for the letter V. The Valhalla is the third car following the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro, which were all developed in collaboration with Red Bull Advanced Technologies.

And in order to give the new Aston Martin Valhalla a proper sendoff, what better way than to star in the forthcoming James Bond thriller starring Daniel Craig?

The Aston Martin Valhalla is a real car

Unlike Bond’s previous Aston Martin DB10 in Spectre, the new Valhalla is a real production car. We’re not talking about a dummy prop here. The Valhalla is as real as it gets with a proper engine, transmission, and livable interior. Aston Martin has confirmed it will build 500 examples of the new Valhalla.

But it won’t come cheap

What else were you expecting from a car reserved for suave secret agents? The new Aston Martin Valhalla is priced at £1.5-million. That’s around $1.9-million in American currency. Time to sell the house and the farm, then.

It shares screen time with two classic Aston Martin cars

But the Valhalla will not be the only Aston Martin to star in the new James Bond film Bond 25. It is accompanied by a 1960s Aston Martin DB5 and the 1987 V8 Vantage.

The new Bond movie will also feature the new Land Rover Defender, which won’t be officially unveiled until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Unfortunately, the new Defender is officially the villain’s car in the film.

The new Aston Martin Valhalla is a hybrid supercar

After the proliferation of fast electric cars, the world is now getting its fair share of fast hybrids. The new Aston Martin Valhalla is a hybrid supercar. It is designed to butt heads with the ludicrous McLaren Senna and Ferrari LaFerrari.

There’s no denying the Valhalla is going to be a quick one. It is powered by a newly-developed 3.0-liter turbocharged motor and battery-electric hybrid system. The new powertrain outputs close to 1,000-horsepower for a sprint of 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. Supercar numbers, indeed.

The Valhalla is co-developed with NASA

No, Aston Martin didn’t go to NASA to have the Valhalla fitted with jet thrusters like the upcoming Tesla Roadster. Instead, the boffins at NASA worked on the aerodynamics and ground effects of the car.

See that large rear wing? It has a variable aerofoil shape to keep the car planted at top speed. The clincher is the rear wing was actually flight-tested by NASA. Talk about bragging rights in a supercar.

It has a futuristic interior

No surprise here. The modern exterior styling of the Valhalla demands an equally hi-tech and futuristic interior. The steering wheel won’t look out of place in a modern F1 car but is wrapped in genuine cowhide for a touch of refinement.

Aston Martin says the Valhalla will have more room than the Valkyrie. In the meantime, the minimalist dashboard and wraparound cockpit is engineered to give the interior a cleaner look. The center console is 3D printed to reduce weight, while the display screen on top of the steering column is viewed through the cutout in the F1-inspired steering wheel.

The Aston Martin Valhalla will make its screen debut in Bond 25. The new James Bond film is set to release in April 2020.
