Making its debut in 1957, the original Breitling SuperOcean bridged the gap for professional divers, amateur divers and scuba enthusiasts. The bold styling teamed with impeccable performance and extraordinary functionality, made it a favorite amongst fans. Carrying on the legacy is the Superocean Heritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition timepieces, which attaches a sense of responsibility and accountability towards the environment, while enjoying a watch that has a purpose.
Breitling Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition was recently launched in Bali with high-profile Surfers Squad members Kelly Slater, Sally Fitzgibbons, and Stephanie Gilmore. Teaming with group Ocean Conservancy, the event marked the launch of the watch and initiated a cleanup of the beaches, helping gather and dispose thousands of plastic waste.
Needless to say, a portion of the sales of the watch goes to Ocean Conservancy as a donation. It will help them and their global fight against ocean pollution. The chronograph, which is limited to 1000 pieces and has some unique features. For example, the caseback is engraved with the Ocean Conservancy logo and the limited edition “1 OF 1000” is also marked for you. A Breitling Caliber 13 mechanical movement powers the watch and it offers power reserve of 48 hours.
The watch also sports an ultra-hard scratch- and shock-resistant unidirectional rotating bezel. There is a Super-LumiNova luminescent central dot at 12 o’clock and this is very valuable for divers. Emitting a blue light instead of the usual green, the Super-LumiNova coated minute and hour hands, complement the color variations and the design of the watch.
The silver-colored dial is augmented by a blue ‘Superocean’ inscription and it all ties in with the blue accents and a blue central second hand. The tone-on-tone subdials with blue or nickel-plated accents, also look very nice.
It comes as no surprise that Breitling would include an ‘environmentally friendly’ angle to the watch. The pair of NATO straps that come with this 44-millimeter stainless-steel chronometer, is made from ECONYL yarn. This yarn is made from repurposed from nylon waste, which includes fishing nets from oceans around the world, as one of the raw materials used to make it. Only 100% recycled materials are used for the packaging as well.
The Superocean Heritage II Chronograph 44 Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition is priced at $6,250.
