There are several ways that we can look at helping save the Rhinos – we can look at improving the security and monitoring systems to protect rhinos from poaching. Local and international law enforcements can tighten the noose around rhino horn smuggling.
However, one of the easiest and most efficient ways, is to support charities that look at funding such initiatives, and ensuring that the funds are used optimally. Perhaps this is the reason why, celebrities like South African-born English cricketer Kevin Pieterson, are connected with foundations like the conservationists Save Our Rhino Africa India (SORAI).
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Sorai watch
Marking the ‘World Rhino Day’, Hublot along with Save Our Rhino Africa India (SORAI) and Kevin Pieterson, announced the Hublot Big Bang Unico Sorai watch. A large chunk of the funds collected from the sales of this timepiece, will go on to fund ‘Care for Wild’. The funds impact the conservation of orphaned baby rhinoceroses and improve the nocturnal surveillance capabilities of the South African National Parks agency.
Limited to only a 100 watches, the Big Bang Unico Sorai watch is designed with many jungle safari cues, that match the sentiment of helping the endangered species. The watch hosts a 45-mm ceramic dial that has sandy tones, resembling the African bush. It even has the image of white rhinoceros on the dial, positioned at the 9 o’clock subdial.
Movement and More
The watch that is used as the base is reference 411.CZ.4620.NR.SOA19 and includes beige, lacquered indices. These indices have been treated with bright white luminescent material promising legibility at night and in low-light conditions.
Apart from the adorable rhino applique, the other side of the dial sports a 60-minute counter that looks good with the centrally mounted chronograph seconds hand. Under the dial is the HUB1242 manufacture caliber, which gives us 72 hours of power reserve.
A matching NATO bracelet complements the Big Bang Unico SORAI, as does the desert camouflage option. To get the colors on the camouflage strap right, Hublot used a ‘selective vulcanization’ process. Pick it up for $24,100.
