The current buzz around Marina Bay Sands in Singapore is largely thanks to the Watch Art Grand Exhibition Singapore 2019 by Patek Philippe. Among the watches being showcased at the event, we find the Patek Philippe Ladies’ Pilot Calatrava Travel Time an intriguing piece, thanks to the fact that it’s the first steel Calatrava Pilot’s Watch from Patek Philippe.
Steel cases are in trend right now, and hence it makes complete sense to capitalize on the upswing. As a part of the six limited Special Editions of ladies’ and men’s watches, this particular one stands out for not being in the ‘Singapore’ color – Red. We have seen the watches Patek Philippe Aquanaut ref. 5167A and Minute Repeater Tourbillon Singapore 2019 Ref. 5303R-010, paying tribute to the Flag and designed with hints of Red.
A Different Time for Calatrava Pilot
We saw the original ref. 7234 make its debut at the Baselworld 2018 and it caused ripples back then, thanks to its size. The Calatrava Pilot moved from being a 42mm case to 37.5mm and was modeled on the cues of the 5524G, but in rose gold. Under the hood was the automatic movement – caliber 324 S C FUS.
The functions on the watch included day and night indicator, second time zone, date and time. Not a very complicated watch, and for the Singapore edition, the tweaks to the reference are mainly cosmetic. The ref. 7234A is a reflection of the rose gold ref. 7234, however the changes include a blue-grey sunburst dial that is teamed with a Cordura synthetic strap and a stainless steel case.
Devil is in the Details
This limited edition of Patek Philippe Ladies’ Pilot Calatrava Travel Time ref. 7234A, comes engraved with “Patek Philippe Singapore 2019” on the sapphire caseback. It’s limited to 400 pieces only and can be bought in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The 324 S C FUS automatic winding movement provides 45 hours of power reserve and is water resistant to 30 meters. The Blue-grey dial sports Arabic numerals and is coated with Luminova for visibility in the dark. The Synthetic Cordura strap compliments the overall vibe of the watch and it comes with the Patek Philippe Seal.
